I took Chantix for 10 days – actually 9 1/2 because I did not take the night dose on day 10. I noticed increasingly that I was feeling very hostile. I slept most of the time – going to bed as early as 7 P.M. And sleeping until 6:00 A.M. The next morning. Chantix increased anxiety which escalated to hostility. I was able to maintain control over my behavior because I isolated away from others. I began feeling that I hated everyone and everything. I became afraid if I kept taking it that the anxiety and hostility would increase. The 10 days I was on it – I did not slow down on smoking. My thought is how can someone stop smoking when they feel hostile and anxious, withdrawn? I would think that would work against quitting.
